Using the Gym in a safe manner is key for continued use of the building & to practice gymnastics during this period, from current advice below is an updated policy for management of this. it will be updated as British gymnastics & Government guidelines
COVID policy for gymnasts, carers, volunteers and coaches
This policy covers all attendees of Weston aerobic gymnastics club and forms part of the contract of participation and rules of the club.
Weston Aerobic gymnastics follows all of the approved guidance as laid down by British gymnastics and government advice.
The content and guidance in the policy may be changed or updated in line with government or BG guidance.
The primary purpose of this policy is to keep gymnasts, officials and carers safe and allow training to continue safely in such a way as to minimise risk of Covid transmission and have due regard to our community responsibilities to minimise transmission.
All gymnasts , officials, volunteers and spectators must undergo a self-assessment for any COVID-19 symptoms. No-one should leave home to participate in sport if they, or someone they live with, has symptoms of COVID -19 currently recognised as any of the following:
- A high temperature
- A new, continuous cough
- A loss of, or change to, their sense of smell or taste
Should an individual have demonstrated any such symptoms, they must follow NHS and PHE guidance on self-isolation
Participants are aware and understand that there are increased risk associated with taking part in activity, based on the assessment undertaken by the governing body. All participants should comply with public health restrictions and avoid high risk behaviour outside the sports setting to reduce the risk to their fellow participants when they do attend.
Test and Trace /GDPR
Registers will be taken at every session and WAG will retain this information (in accordance with GDPR) for the purposes of complying with BG and UK governments test and trace scheme.
Gymnasts must follow the rules in place including (but not limited to):
All gymnasts must adhere to the coach led advice on social distancing throughout activity.
All participants must remain socially distanced on arrival, during breaks in training and when leaving the gym.
After activity participants must maintain government mandated social distancing for social interaction.
Gymnasts must be familiar with our procedure by watching the video and reading and understand
the procedures set out below.
Gymnasts must arrive ready for their session as their will be no changing room facilities
Gymnasts must arrive on time, if you are late you will not be allowed in to train.
On arrival gymnasts must wait to enter observing 2 metre social distancing and they will enter the gym 1 at a time.
If in the coaches opinion a gymnast appears to be exhibiting any symptoms of ill health the coach reserves the right to refuse entry to the facility.
Shoes will be removed at the door and placed in the ‘clean box’ or
handed back to their parent / guardian before entering the gym
Gymnasts must respect the markings layout within the gym and follow instructions given by their coach
Gymnasts will be social distanced within their bubble and work independently or as directed.
After each rotation gymnasts and coaches must hand sanitise before using the next area.
At the end of the session the gymnasts will line up on the floor area within their bubble and leave when the coach is satisfied a parent/carer is immediacy outside ready to collect safely.
Gymnasts for the next session cannot enter until the group before have all left.
Gymnasts may bring water bottles but they must be named. Any bottles left behind will be thrown away, NO food will be allowed.
Gymnasts to wear slip on shoes either flipflops or crocs for ease of entering and leaving the gym.
Only bringing limited necessary items (such as keys/phone) and slip on shoes.
All personal items to be placed in the allocated gymnasts ‘clean box’ on arrival.
Sanitise hands on arrival and during any break/interaction.
Hand washing regularly.
No visitors/parents/carers will be allowed inside the gym unless agreed in advance.
All visitors /carers/parents must adhere to the social distancing guidance and sanitising/hand washing guidance as directed by the coaches.
For Parents dropping off for training and picking up after training you must be familiar with our policy procedure and by watching the video understand the
process off arriving and leaving, this information has been sent via email it can also be seen on our Facebook page.
If there is a group already training parents and gymnasts must wait outside.
Classes will start as advised on the new timetable.
Any gymnast who arrives late for their class will not be allowed into train this is to ensure our Covid measures are maintained.
Parents of gymnasts under 14 must STAY with their child until the child has entered the gym.
When waiting to enter parents and gymnasts must social distance from others.
Only one gymnast must enter at a time, others must wait until asked to enter by the member of staff
There will be no viewing due to the small spaces, therefore we ask parents/guardians to either stay in their car or come back at pick up time. We ask that parents do not stand around once they have dropped off or picked up and leave promptly.
Gymnasts will leave from the side emergency exit, please wait for them maintaining social distancing, they will come to you.
Please make sure you arrive on time as we will have no facility to hold them at the gym
Anyone showing symptoms of Coivd-19 will be stopped from training and sent home and asked to follow the appropriate Covid 19 health advice.
Any gymnast (or person whom a gymnast lives with or has contact with) who has had contact from the Test and Trace service to inform them of a possible Covid contact, or who is awaiting a Covid test result (or who lives with another person to whom this applies) MUST INFORM the club by email immediately. (Please do not post on Facebook)
They MUST NOT attend gymnastics or the venue in any capacity until they or the family member/cohabiting person has received a (negative) result and the appropriate isolation period has been completed.
For the avoidance of doubt current advice is:
Any person displaying symptoms or who has had possible contact must self isolate for at least 7 days, anyone who lives with them must also isolate for 14 days.
This policy is designed to keep our gymnasts, coaches and wider community safe. Any gymnast or parent in breach of this policy may be suspended from the club, repeated breaches may result in a disciplinary sanction including expulsion.
